After the meeting with Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Dukanovic, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev reviewed the projects to be implemented in Montenegro by Azerbaijan.
The Mayor of Podgorica, Miomir Mugosa, informed the head of the Azerbaijani state that the economic and cultural center Azerbaijan-Montenegro, AzMont, which operates in Montenegro, and the diplomatic representative office of Azerbaijan in Montenegro had raised the issue with the Podgorica Municipality regarding the naming of one of the central streets of the city after Baku.
As a result of the discussions held with the Government of Montenegro, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Municipality of Podgorica and members of the City Parliament, on 12 February 2013 the Parliament made the decision to name one of the central streets of the capital after Baku. In accordance with the decision, the street, which is a continuation of the Mesa Selimovic Street located between the Mihailo Lalic Boulevard and the Student Street, has been awarded the name of Baku.
Currently, the street is being renovated and plaques with the word "Baku" are being installed.
In addition, taking into consideration the importance of perpetuating the memory of prominent Azerbaijani poet and playwright Huseyn Javid in the European country, the economic and cultural center Azerbaijan-Montenegro, AzMont, and the diplomatic representative office of Azerbaijan in Montenegro have put forward the initiative to install a bust of the great literary figure in Podgorica.
As a result of the discussions held with the Government of Montenegro, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Municipality of Podgorica and members of the City Parliament, on 26 December 2012 the Parliament decided by the overwhelming majority of votes to install a bust of brilliant Azerbaijani literary figure Huseyn Javid in the Royal Park of the capital. The Royal Park is located in the city center near the buildings of the Presidential Administration, the Parliament, the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. According to the project, a bust of Huseyn Javid is to be erected in the park, the national emblems of Azerbaijan and Montenegro engraved at the entrance and the Azerbaijani national style of architecture widely used.
In accordance with the decision of the Parliament of Podgorica, the bronze bust of Huseyn Javid will be mounted on a white marble pedestal.
