Working visit of Ilham Aliyev to the United States

On August 7–8, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev paid a working visit to Washington D.C. at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump.
On August 8, a meeting between President Ilham Aliyev and President Trump was held at the White House.
During the meeting, the presidents signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United States on the establishment of a Strategic Working Group to prepare a Charter on Strategic Partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States.
At the same time, in the presence of President Ilham Aliyev, the U.S. President signed an executive order on the extension of the waiver of the Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act.
A Joint Declaration on the outcomes of the meeting held in Washington D.C. between President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was signed, witnessed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Additionally, within the framework of the meeting between President Ilham Aliyev, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the foreign ministers of both countries initialed the draft “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia.” A joint appeal was also submitted to the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office on the closure of the OSCE Minsk Process and its related structures.
One of the achievements of the Washington Summit is the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) project, which will ensure an unimpeded connection between the main part of the Republic of Azerbaijan and its Nakhchivan region. Set to become the next important segment of the Middle Corridor, TRIPP will serve as a vital transport link connecting Asia with Europe, expanding international cargo transit opportunities, contributing to the prosperity of regional countries, and integrating them into global supply chains.
TRIPP may also provide extensive opportunities in the future for the transportation of energy resources, the export of electricity – particularly renewable energy – and the laying of fiber-optic lines, thereby accelerating the transformation of the region into an international trade and digital communications hub. Azerbaijan has mobilized all necessary efforts to ensure the timely implementation of this route.
