Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of the newly-appointed ambassador of Mauritania

President Ilham Aliyev has received the credentials of a newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Mauritania to Azerbaijan, Sidi Mohammed Ould Taleb Amar.

The ambassador was greeted by the guard of honor.

Ambassador Ould Taleb Amar submitted his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.

Then the President of Azerbaijan spoke to the ambassador.

The ambassador said he was honored to submit his credentials to the President of Azerbaijan and become the first ambassador of Mauritania to Azerbaijan. He noted with satisfaction that his country demonstrates the same position as Azerbaijan on any issues in international organizations. Referring to the visit of the President of Mauritania to friendly Azerbaijan, the diplomat said that the visit and the documents signed during it had given a strong impetus to the development of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries. The ambassador said that Mauritania was interested in developing ties with Azerbaijan in the field of agriculture, adding that appropriate steps had already been taken in this direction. Sidi Mohammed Ould Taleb Amar said that his country would continue to support Azerbaijan's position on all issues, particularly on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem within the framework of international organizations.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the dynamic development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Mauritania. The head of state added that the visit of the President of Mauritania to Azerbaijan played a special role in the development of relations as specific steps have already been taken at different levels after the visit. President Ilham Aliyev appreciated Mauritania’s support for Azerbaijan’s fair position on the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
