President Ilham Aliyev has reviewed the Flag Square in Mingachevir set up at the entrance to the city.
Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev has made an exceptional contribution to the fact that the tricolor flag with a crescent and an eight-pointed star, an attribute of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, has become the symbol of the independence of our country. The flag, which was first raised on the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, now occupies a worthy place at major international events, ceremonies and political forums. The tricolor flag stands for our national unity.
The respect of the President of Azerbaijan for the public attributes is demonstrated by the fact that the country has established the Day of the National Flag, which is celebrated on 9 November every year. Flag Square have been set up in Baku and in the districts, which is an important factor in strengthening the sense of patriotism among the younger generation.
The Flag Square established in Mingachevir and the state flag installed here have a grand appearance.
The President was informed that the construction of the Flag Square in Mingachevir started in June last year and was completed in March this year. The square is located in the Heydar Aliyev Avenue at the entrance to the city. The height of the flagpole is 42 meters. Around the flag there are images of the map, the national anthem and the coat of arms of Azerbaijan.
Special beauty to the square is imparted by a fountain built here. The Flag Square has been landscaped and green areas set up around it. Various floral and ornamental shrubs have been planted and a modern lighting system installed. The square also has all conditions for the recreation for local residents.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the work done at the Flag Square.
