Ilham Aliyev received Vice-President of the European Commission for Digital Agenda

President Ilham Aliyev has received the Vice-President of the European Commission for Digital Agenda, Neelie Kroes.

Neelie Kroes said the development ongoing in Azerbaijan had made a deep impression on her. She expressed her gratitude to the head of state for the high level of organization of the Seventh Forum on Internet Governance in Baku. Neelie Kroes emphasized the importance of electronic media, free Internet and the “e-government” project.

President Ilham Aliyev welcomed the participation of the European Commission Vice-President for Digital Agenda, Neelie Kroes, in the Forum. Describing the Forum as a result of the work ongoing in the country’s ICT sector, the President expressed his confidence that the Internet and electronic media would develop in Azerbaijan in the future too. President Aliyev stressed the importance of the measures to create a broadband Internet service in Azerbaijan.

The sides exchanged views on further development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Commission in various fields, including in the field of information and communication technologies.
