Ilham Aliyev reviewed progress of major repairs and reconstruction of the National Tofiq Bahramov Stadium

President Ilham Aliyev has reviewed progress of major repairs and reconstruction of the National Tofiq Bahramov Stadium.

The President was informed about the work under way in the Tofiq Bahramov Stadium. It was indicated that major repairs and reconstruction of the stadium, covering a total area of 85,700 square meters, were carried out by the South Korean company Samhoa. The previous capacity of the stadium was 29,870 seats and it will be increased by another 2,500 seats to reach 31,200. It will have 16 special rooms called “family” rooms.

Changing rooms that can be used by four teams at a time are built under the new stands. The press will have a special 500-seat computerized area. There will also be a VIP-room for 500 people and a VIP-restaurant.

It was mentioned that the seats of the stadium will be completely reconstructed. To do that, all the seats are concreted anew. Water supply, sewage and lighting systems of the stadium will be completely reconstructed. In accordance with FIFA and UEFA standards, new WCs for 250 people each are built along the stadium fence. It is planned to build three additional substations around the stadium. Older lighting poles will be dismantled, while the new lighting system will be connected to the special facilities under the seats. To support the top of the seats, they will be reinforced by piles at a depth of 12 meters.

Each pile, capable of withstanding a load of up to 200 tons, will take a load of 90 tons.

Mostly South Korean and local building materials are used in the construction. The new structure being assembled will be covered with a layer of the membrane produced in Germany. Turnstiles will be installed at the entrance to the stadium. After additional construction work, the stadium’s running tracks will be renewed. Drainage and heating systems will be installed under the turf, while the pitch itself will be replaced.

The stadium will be equipped with additional surveillance cameras.

After reviewing the progress of repairs and reconstruction, President Ilham Aliyev gave appropriate instructions.
