President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has met with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is in Baku to attend the opening ceremony of the first European Games.
President Ilham Aliyev said:
Dear Gurbanguly Malikguliyevich. I wholeheartedly greet you. Welcome to Azerbaijan. We attach great importance to your visit. We are happy to have you as our guest on a day which is of profound importance for us. This is another testimony to our friendship, brotherhood. Relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are based on the foundations of friendship, brotherhood. Our people have always lived and created together, and supported each other. Being independent states Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are successfully developing. We would like to praise your successes. This makes us very happy. Led by you Turkmenistan is successfully moving forward on the path of development. I am confident that our friendship, brotherhood will strengthen in the future. Your being in Baku today is itself an example, sign.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked President Ilham Aliyev for inviting him to attend the opening ceremony of the Baku 2015 first European Games. The President of Turkmenistan noted that the First European Games is a very remarkable sporting event. The Turkmen head of state said the two countries are successfully cooperating in political, economic, energy, transport and humanitarian areas, adding common history, language and cultural values are contributing to the expansion of the bilateral ties. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that Azerbaijan was one of the first countries to support the second UN resolution on Turkmenistan’s neutrality. The Turkmen head of state invited the Azerbaijani President to the conference marking the 20th anniversary of the country’s neutrality to take place in December of this year.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games will be held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, in 2017.
