Dear Mr. President,

I cordially congratulate you and all the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the Republic Day.

Traditionally close and reliable relations between our countries have become even stronger in recent months, especially after your last visit to Germany. I applaud Azerbaijan’s readiness to strengthen partnership with Germany and the European Union. Your country’s taking the leading role in the expansion of the Southern Gas Corridor is a clear evidence of this partnership.

In a few weeks Azerbaijan will be in the center of attention as it will host the first European Games. In this regard, I applaud your high appreciation of European values through continuing internal reforms. Germany has always supported and will further support Azerbaijan on this path. Maintaining open dialogue on this front is of great importance.

I wish you, your family and the people of Azerbaijan strong peace, free and a prosperous future.
