President Ilham Aliyev has received the credentials of the newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay Aníbal Cabral Segalerba.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev then had a conversation with the Ambassador.
The head of state noted that there was good potential for the development of bilateral relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay on various fronts, including investment making, implementation of joint projects and other areas. President Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of issues related to the expansion of cooperation in political, economic and other fields, which were discussed during the meetings at different levels.
The Ambassador conveyed greetings on behalf of President of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay Tabare Vazquez to the head of state. Touching upon the development of bilateral relations, Aníbal Cabral Segalerba hailed the inter-parliamentary cooperation. The diplomat said his country was interested in expanding ties with Azerbaijan, and noted that he would spare no efforts to contribute to the development of cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay.
During the meeting, the sides discussed how to expand cooperation between the two countries in investment making, trade, cultural ties and other spheres.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked for the greetings of President Tabare Vazquez, and asked the Ambassador to communicate his greetings to the President of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay.
