Ilham Aliyev opens several new transport complexes in the capital city.
President Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of several new transport complexes built in various parts of the capital city.
The head of state first arrived at the opening of a junction and a tunnel at the intersection of Fatali Xan Xoyski Avenue and Koroglu Rahimov Street.
The builders warmly welcomed President Ilham Aliyev.
Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov informed the head of state about the technical indicators of the junction. He said that the tunnel, which started to be built in March 2010, was commissioned by the Azeryolservis open joint-stock company of the Ministry of Transport. The tunnel is important in terms of regulating traffic at the intersection of Fatali Xan Xoyski Avenue and Koroglu Rahimov Street, preventing traffic jams and ensuring the safety of pedestrians. He noted that the total length of the tunnel is 284 metres, width – 22.5 metres and height – 5 metres. The length of the closed part of the tunnel is 45 metres and its exit roads – 239 metres. The length of bypass roads is 720 metres. The length of the junction in the direction of Fatali Khan Khoyski Avenue is 560 metres and width – 7 metres, while its length in the direction of Koroglu Rahimov Street is 160 metres and width – 24 metres.
President Ilham Aliyev looked at a photo stand reflecting the state of the area where the tunnel is located before and after the construction. It was said that a total of 4,000 square metres of granite and marble were used for decorations during the construction work. Green spaces were laid out in the area and decorative trees and flowers were planted. About 150 workers were engaged in construction work. Traffic will be regulated by six lanes in the tunnel. Drain pipes have been installed to remove rain and underground waters from the tunnel and a modern lighting system has been arranged.
Constructions made from stainless steel have been installed on top of the tunnel and on bypass roads, signs have been installed to ease the traffic and wide pavements for pedestrians have been built.

At a meeting with builders, President Ilham Aliyev congratulated them. He said:
I thank you in connection with the opening of this tunnel. You did a wonderful job in such a short time. Such a beautiful bridge and tunnel were built in less than a year, and this is very important in terms of regulating traffic in this area. However, this is only part of the job. More work will be carried out and thus, the whole area will meet the highest standards in terms of excess traffic. The main thing in this work is quality, and of course, the pace. Both issues were resolved here. I am confident that all other work will also be carried out at the same pace and with the same quality.
I congratulate you on the forthcoming holiday and wish you new successes.
After that, the head of state inspected a junction passing over the tunnel. It was reported that drivers moving from the Fatali Xan Xoyski Avenue to the Nariman Narimanov metro station and back can use the tunnel, while drivers moving to Koroglu Rahimov Street can use the upper road. Apart from that, vehicles coming from Koroglu Rahimov Street can use an auxiliary road to move towards the Nariman Narimanov metro station and can make a U-turn on the top of the tunnel.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the construction of the junction and the tunnel and gave some instructions and recommendations.

President Ilham Aliyev then participated in the opening of a tunnel at the intersection of Koroglu Rahimov Street and Tabriz Street in Narimanov district.
The builders warmly welcomed the head of state.
Minister of Transport reported to President Ilham Aliyev that the tunnel, which started to be built in April 2010, will help regulate traffic moving to Koroglu Rahimov Street and Tabriz Street without traffic lights. This will prevent traffic jams at this intersection. The tunnel fits the general appearance of the area. Lampposts installed inside and over the tunnel decorate the underpass and regulate the traffic.
Auxiliary roads built on the right and left of the tunnel also meet modern standards.

It was said that about 100 people worked here during the construction work. The total length of the tunnel is 274 metres. Its closed part is 26 metres long, height – 5 metres and width – 17.5 metres. The length of bypass roads is 1,012 metres, width – 5.5 metres and entry roads – 430 metres. Traffic in the tunnel will be regulated by four lanes. Together with bypass roads, the road has six lanes.
Drain pipes have been installed in the tunnel to remove rain and underground waters. A modern lighting system has been installed. Decorative constructions made from stainless steel have been installed over the tunnel, green spaces have been laid out in the area, trees and shrubs have been planted, signs have been installed to ease the traffic and comfortable pavements have been built for pedestrians. In total, 5,800 tonnes of asphalt and 9,000 cubic metres of concrete were used to build the tunnel.
President Ilham Aliyev looked at the plan of a new road proposed for free and safe traffic between Heydar Aliyev Avenue, Koroglu Rahimov Street and Xatai Avenue and at the map of roads that are about to be completed and will be built in that area. He gave some instructions and recommendations.

President Ilham Aliyev participated in the opening of new tunnels at the intersection of Yusif Safarov and Mehdi Mehdizada Streets in Xatai District, an area with heavy traffic and many pedestrians.
Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov told the head of state as he familiarized himself with the technical indicators of the tunnels that the underground passage in Yusif Safarov Street – Tunnel-1 – and the underground passage in Mehdi Mehdizada Street – Tunnel-2 – are connected to each other.
President Ilham Aliyev held a meeting with builders and congratulated them on the opening of the underground passages. The head of state noted that great work is being carried out in Baku. The presence of schools, hospitals and other administrative buildings in this area increases the importance of underground passages. Yusif Safarov Street has also been widened. The passages meet the highest standards. President Ilham Aliyev said that all this is directed at ensuring people's comfort.
President Ilham Aliyev then said:
All the passages of Baku are also pieces of architecture. That's what they should be. Baku is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and the transport infrastructure in Baku should be at the highest level. I am very glad that all this wonderful work is carried out by Azerbaijani companies. Azerbaijani companies are now working not just in the country's transport sector, but also abroad.
President Ilham Aliyev once again congratulated residents of the capital and builders on 31 December – World Azerbaijani Solidarity Day and the New Year.

The construction of the tunnels began in February this year on the basis of President Ilham Aliyev's instruction to improve the transport system in Baku. The tunnels, which are of great importance due to the presence of the Republican Perinatal Centre, the Central Oil Workers' Hospital and the Supreme Court in this area and in terms of regulating traffic in Yusif Safarov and Mehdi Mehdizada streets, preventing traffic jams and ensuring the security of pedestrians, were built using modern technical methods and at a high level. Up to 50 people worked here during the construction work. Local and foreign construction materials were used to build the passages that have three exits.
President Ilham Aliyev was informed that the total length of the closed parts of the tunnels is 136 metres. The length of the underground passage in Yusif Safarov Street is 76 metres and in Mehdi Mehdizada Street – 50 metres. The width of both tunnels is five metres and height – three metres. Security cameras have been installed in the tunnels. Along with ensuring pedestrians' security, the passages also fit the architectural style of this part of the capital.
The head of state who highly values the work that has been carried out stressed the importance of prioritizing quality and modernity during reconstruction work in the capital.

After that, President Ilham Aliyeb attended the opening of an underground passage at 135 Neftcilar Avenue.
Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov told the head of state that the construction of the underground passage began in February this year.
All forces were mobilized to ensure the high quality of the work and to complete it as soon as possible. The new underground passage plays an important role in the safe passage of pedestrians to and from the National Park.
Four modern escalators have been installed in the underground passage in order to ease the movement of pedestrians. The length of these escalators used in leading countries of the world is 4.2 metres. The underground passage can also be used by the disabled. The ceiling of the underground passage is covered with alcopon and the floor and walls with granite.

The head of state was informed that the closed part of the two-exit passage built according to modern requirements is 56 metres long, eight metres wide and three metres high. A modern lighting system has been installed in the passage and security cameras at the entrances. These cameras will monitor security in the tunnel during the day.
It was said that along with ensuring pedestrians' security, the passage also beatifies the area. It was noted that the new passage is very important in terms of regulating traffic in Neftcilar Avenue, preventing traffic jams and ensuring pedestrians' security.
During construction work, attention was also paid to preventing underground and rain waters from collecting in the underground passage.

On the same day, President Ilham Aliyev familiarized himself with an underground passage opened after major refurbishment at the intersection of Bulbul Avenue and 28 May streets.
Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov reported to the head of state that the refurbishment work in the underground passage in this area, where there are many pedestrians and heavy traffic, began in April this year. High quality construction materials were used during the refurbishment and reconstruction of the four-exit passage.
The construction of the passage was commissioned by the Ministry of Transport. The total length of the passage where about 100 people worked is 80 metres, width – 4-8 metres and height 2.3 metres. The walls, floor and lighting system in the passage were completely renewed. Handrails made from stainless steel were installed. A special pumping room was arranged to collect underground waters and redirect them into the sewerage system. Cameras were also installed here to ensure pedestrians' security. A special ramp for wheelchairs has been made as well.
President Ilham Aliyev inspected the underground passage and closely familiarized himself with the work that was carried out.

President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of an underground passage at the intersection of Mikayil Mushviq Street and Parliament Avenue near School No 20 in Yasamal district.
The builders and participants in the ceremony warmly welcomed the head of state.
Minister of Transport Ziya Bunyadov reported to the head of state that the construction of this underground passage was very important in terms of regulating traffic in the area, preventing traffic jams and ensuring the safety of pedestrians. During the construction of the passage, major renovation and landscaping work was carried out in the neighbourhood.
During the implementation of the project, special attention was paid to ensuring that the underground passage fits surrounding buildings and infrastructure facilities. President Ilham Aliyev was informed about the technical-economic indicators of the passage. It was noted that this facility, which was built in a short period of time, has exits in five directions. Since several education centres are located in the area, it is of special importance in terms of ensuring schoolchildren's security. An escalator has also been installed in the passage. Relevant measures have been implemented to ensure that the disabled can comfortably use this facility.
President Ilham Aliyev congratulated the participants in the ceremony on the remarkable event.
The republic's honoured teacher, Sabir Mamishov, expressed his profound gratitude to the head of state on behalf of the participants in the ceremony. He said:
This is a great event not just for our school, but also for people living in the neighbourhood. Because parents who send their children to school worried how their children crossed the street. They often called the school to find out whether they had reached the school. You put an end to these worries. We are very thankful to you.
Saying that President Ilham Aliyev is successfully continuing the policies of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and reconstruction work is expanding in our country, Sabir Mamishov stated:
Our national leader Heydar Aliyev established Azerbaijan as an independent state and protected it from being partitioned. You developed Azerbaijan even further. New buildings are being built and new passages are being opened in our country every day. We thank you once again.
President Ilham Aliyev said:
Thank you. I congratulate you on the forthcoming World Azerbaijani Solidarity Day and the New Year. I wish you and all the teachers of Azerbaijan happiness and strong health. Today is a remarkable day in Baku. Four underground passages and two tunnels were opened today. These passages certainly have their own particularities and importance, and as you said, a big school is located here. Several years ago, this school was also refurbished, and I remember that I had familiarized myself with the condition of this school.
President Ilham Aliyev stressed that the passage meets the most modern standards.
Sabir Mamishov said that education was at a high level at School No 20, 12 pupils were receiving a presidential scholarship, three teachers had been given the title of honoured teacher and two teachers had been awarded the Medal of Progress. He also said that special attention was being paid to the teaching of foreign languages at the school.
President Ilham Aliyev said:
The more foreign languages our children know, the better. Our children should be knowledgeable and educated, should work for our country and future and should be brought up well. Of course, all conditions must be right for this. You know that more than 2,000 schools have been built and refurbished in various parts of our country, and this process is continuing, because there are still too many schools that need to be refurbished. I believe that in the next two or three years, all schools in Azerbaijan will be refurbished at a very high level and new schools will be built. I congratulate you on these holidays once again and wish you good luck.
After that, President Ilham Aliyev was informed about other technical-economic indicators of the underground passage. It was noted that the total length of the facility is 173 metres, width – six metres and height – three metres.
High quality construction materials were used during the construction-assembly work. During the implementation of the project, special attention was paid to ensuring that modern and national styles of architecture supplement each other. The lighting system is perfect and makes the facility even more beautiful. Other complex measures were also taken to ensure the normal operation of the passage.
After familiarizing himself with the underground passage, President Ilham Aliyev gave some instructions and recommendations.
