The first day of the XXII Winter Olympic Games in the city of Sochi in the Russian Federation witnessed many memorable sporting moments.
President Ilham Aliyev and his wife, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, watched the men’s 5,000-metres skating competitions.
Azerbaijan has been taking part in the Winter Olympic Games since 1998 and this year is represented at them by four sportsmen and women in skiing and ice-skating competitions.
