President Ilham Aliyev and Madam Mehriban Aliyeva got familiarized with the course of construction work carried out at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed the decree On Creation of the Heydar Aliyev Center on December 29, 2006 and the decree On Undertaking Additional Measures for the Creation of the Heydar Aliyev Center on January 24, 2007 to commemorate the memory of great leader Heydar Aliyev, study and develop thoroughly its statehood philosophy and ideas of being an Azerbaijani. The Heydar Aliyev Center is being created to study deeply, promote widely and develop comprehensively the statehood philosophy and ideology of being Azerbaijani. The Center will enable us to hold international events, various conferences, exhibitions and meetings that will play an important role in public-political and cultural life of the country.
This Center erected as the architectural monument that will commemorate the memory of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of contemporary Azerbaijani statehood disposes multifunctional and multifaceted structure comprising saloons equipped with the modern technologies. The architect of the Heydar Aliyev Center is world famous Zaha Hadid Architects Company which deserved the first place by the decision of international contest commission. Construction work is being carried out by DIA Holding FZCO.
According to the project, the Heydar Aliyev Center will comprise three main integral parts and two auxiliary structures. The main integral part of the Center will have the fund of rare writings, library and media centers ensuring online access to worldwide information resources, exhibition hall demonstrating masterpieces of national and global scale, museum and cultural heritage center composed of multimedia and virtual exhibitions dedicated to the history and cultural heritage of our country as well as conference hall with capacity of 1000 seats.
Auxiliary structure is composed of public area halls located in front of two entrances to the Center, round clock parking lot for almost 1250 cars and other infrastructure.
The head of state was informed about construction work carried out on the basis of project. It was reported that according to the project, the total area of constructions at the Center is equal to 15,25 hectares. Almost 2 hectares of total territory is the land plot dedicated to the main building and other constructions. While 13,25 hectares are envisaged for landscape design. It was noted that the Heydar Aliyev Center will be composed of three main structures in the form of a common compound.
The total construction are of this Compound is 57 thousand square meters. This structure comprises the museum and cultural heritage center of 10.854 square meters, conference hall for 985 seats, multifunctional hall of 27.880 square meters as well as library and media center of 12,920 square meters. In general, the total used area of the main building is 6.039 square meters.
It was noted that the internal territory of library will be open while few places will be covered by dividing walls. Readers and users of media center will be able to carry out an individual and team work here. It is envisaged to have rooms with sound isolation systems. Museum and cultural heritage center with total area of 10.854 square meters will be composed of three parts. The first part of six meters in height will shelter the gallery of Azerbaijani Arts of XX century and of contemporary period, Exhibiting contemporary national and world arts masterpieces, the second part will host temporary and changing exhibition galleries. Knowledge about the people of Azerbaijan, its history, statehood and culture as well as the national and other collections will be demonstrated in galleries located at the third part. It was reported that these exhibitions will be located commonly at the second floor of building. The plain, wide and tall conference hall with no pillars is the most complicated part of the Center from the technical and logistical points of view which is equal to 27.880 square meters. It is envisaged to have in conference hall a separate entry for participants, transportation vehicles, easy realization of stage and backstage equipment, service entry, the connection between front and rear sides of building as well as special entry for disabled persons. Number of seats for spectators is near 1000. The hall will encompass stage and spectators seats, press center, locker rooms and dispatcher units. It was reported that the total area of parking is 39.420 square meters. Subterranean parking of the Center will have four floors having a picturesque greening line, resort and entertainment infrastructures on the surface by providing this area for public use.
Having studied closely the course of construction work of the Heydar Aliyev Center, the head of state gave instructions and recommendations related to the high quality implementation of construction work.
