President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of Baku-Russian Federation state border high way following the capital reconstruction of its 28-45 kilometer stretch.

The builders and transport workers welcomed the President warmly.

Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov gave information to the President about the technical indicators and parameters of the highway. It was mentioned that the length of the newly reconstructed 4-lane highway is 17 kilometers. The width of its asphalted part is 15 meters and the thickness of the asphalt coating is 23 centimeters. The width of the traffic separator strip is 5 meters. All the labor force have been mobilized for quick and high-quality conduct of construction works. With that end in view, approximately 200 specific equipments and 300 manpower had been involved in the construction works of the area. In the process of road reconstruction, not only local specialists, but also foreign experts had been employed.

The President was informed that 9.5 kilometer long five road junctions and 10 passages had been built over the newly reconstructed, first-level category highway. The road junctions provide access to automobile roads, nearby settlements and bridges, which is very important for comfortable and secure movement of vehicles. In order to ensure secure movement of pedestrians, a pedestrian passage was built, and the water and communication lines in the area of the construction strip were completely renovated. Utilization of this highway will ensure free movement of vehicles, especially heavy-loaded trucks in the direction of the Baku-Russian Federation state border and in the opposite direction without having to enter Sumgayit industrial area and Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev district.

President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon symbolizing the official opening.

Then, President Ilham Aliyev met with the constructors and congratulated them:

- During previous years, we did not have even a single company for road construction. Now, you can see that several companies are established in the country. Our companies implement projects in other countries. In this way, Azerbaijani companies are growing, becoming stronger and accumulating financial resources thanks to the public offers. At the same time, jobs are created and such investments are then redirected abroad. If not for the State Program, then these companies could not have led their activities. Each state should expose its financial resources to stimulate the processes.

During recent years, several billion AZMs have been spent in Azerbaijan for road and traffic infrastructure. This created a beauty, but also generated new jobs and helped the creation of so many companies. All these companies became bigger and stronger, possessed large financial resources. These companies invest in Azerbaijan and abroad. It stimulates economy. Therefore, funds invested into transport sector do not mean a simple traffic regulation or more comfort. First of all, it serves to give impetus to the economy.

We will have a plenty of such offers. A lot of work has been done in Azerbaijan. Roads were refurbished. However, there is still a lot to be done in village roads, intercity roads, highways and road junctions in the future. Now, we inaugurated Baku Ring Road. We also inaugurated Sumgayit Ring Road. Even though the road linking Baku and Sumgayit is also very attractive, we expand and refurbish it. Currently, all roadside infrastructures are improving. Trees are planted on roadsides. The concrete road starting from here to northwards is a world-class road as well. Despite that, Sumgayit Ring Road was also constructed. It will give a big impetus to the development of this zone and create comfortable departure and arrival conditions.

Therefore, I am thankful to you. You have done a great job. I congratulate you and wish you new successes.
