The European Parliament and PACE have already recognized the elections in Azerbaijan as being democratic, transparent and consistent with international standards. This electoral campaign was held in Azerbaijan in a very quiet, constructive and transparent atmosphere, and I see your personal contribution to that as an incumbent President.
Especially encouraging are the results of your election victory. Such an unprecedented advantage over other candidates for presidency, 85 per cent of the vote, represents an almost unanimous vote of confidence for you by the people of Azerbaijan!
The people of Azerbaijan have chosen a path of stability and development for their country. Tremendous progress has been made by the republic in the past decade of your presidency. The dynamic changes taking place in all sectors of the economy have significantly improved the well-being of the population. New jobs are being created. The levels of poverty and unemployment have dropped many times. Azerbaijan has become a generally accepted economic and political leader of the Caucasus region. Your country is reckoned with by leading world powers.
I see your contribution and merits in all these achievements of modern Azerbaijan. You are a worthy son of your father, respected Heydar Aliyev. You are a worthy successor of his great work. Today you are a recognized leader of the Azerbaijani nation capable of leading the country to new heights of progress and future prosperity.
