As part of a visit to Guba District, Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a Youth Centre

As part of a visit to Guba District, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of a Youth Centre.

Comprehensive measures are being taken in Azerbaijan to develop a youth policy. Associated with the name of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev, the state youth policy has achieved tremendous success since 2003. An important part in this process has been played by state youth programs. At the present time, the State Program "Azerbaijani youth in 2011-2015" is successfully under way. Today, the education of young people on the basis of Azerbaijanism and statehood principles, in the spirit of patriotism and respect for the cultural and historical past, and national and spiritual values is one of the priority areas. The main goal is to encourage the participation of young people in political, socioeconomic and cultural life of society. In accordance with the instructions and recommendations of President Ilham Aliyev, projects and programs have been implemented in Azerbaijan to identify the intellectual and creative potential of young people, in particular expand the activities of young people living in the regions. Modern social infrastructure facilities and youth centers are emerging throughout the country these days. The establishment of a Youth Center in Guba District also serves this goal.

Flowers were presented to Azerbaijan's First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva. The head of state cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the Center.

It was noted that the construction of the center, built at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, took one year to complete. The three-storey building is located in the Culture and Recreation Park named after Heydar Aliyev. It is one of the largest youth centers in Azerbaijan.

In the lobby there are photo stands reflecting different aspects of the public and political activities of great leader Heydar Aliyev and his meetings with young people. There is a bust of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev here as well.

President Ilham Aliyev reviewed a 250-seat assembly hall of the center. The spacious and bright room is intended for conducting conferences and meetings of district and national levels. The center will operate a youth café and a karaoke bar. There are plans to organize computer and foreign language courses here. The main objective is to encourage scientific and technical knowledge among young people, support creative initiatives and identify talented boys and girls. The table tennis and billiard halls will expand leisure opportunities for young people.

The chess room is fitted with all the necessary equipment. The drawing and weaving clubs will help young people learn the secrets of art and ancient crafts. Their works will also be displayed here. The center will operate courses to familiarize young people with technological advances and develop their knowledge and skills. The center will play an important part in effective organization of leisure activities and enhance young people’s social engagement.
