President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has reviewed the Shamkir branch of Baku Oxford School.
In accordance with the instructions of the head of state on ensuring the intellectual and spiritual development of the younger generation, its education in a patriotic spirit, the implementation of innovative ideas and creative initiatives, and within the framework of the "Support for Education" project being implemented on the initiative of the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, the Shamkir branch of Baku Oxford school began to operate in November 2010. Currently, the school has 231 pupils. Along with a certificate of the Republic of Azerbaijan, school graduates receive a secondary education certificate from Cambridge University. Classes are conducted in English and education is divided in the following stages: pre-school training, elementary school, middle school and high school. In addition, the school implements a two-year international program A-level. Students completing these programs can enroll in various universities in the UK if they receive good grades in international tests.
The head of state also visited the dormitory of the Shamkir branch of Baku Oxford School.
It was noted that the dorm would accommodate students both from Shamkir and those from Ganja, Gadabay, Agstafa, Tovuz and Gazakh Districts. To ensure safe transportation of students to the school, five vehicles are available. The dorm covers an area of 4,000 square meters. It is well suited for the stay of 90 students and nine teachers. The first and second floors of the dorm are provided for the boys and the third for girls. There is a digital library, equipment for sports, an art studio and a cinema here. Children will be provided with three meals a day. Specifically trained people will work in the dorm.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the work done.
