President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of a bridge over the Choplan river in Gadabay.
The head of state reviewed the layout of the road on which the bridge is located.
Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov informed President Ilham Aliyev that the bridge is located at the entrance to Gadabay city, at KP42 of the Shamkir-Gadabay highway. Built over the Cholpan river in 1988, the three-span 60-meter bridge became unserviceable over time. Since there is no alternative entrance to Gadabay city, it was necessary to build a new bridge. The construction of the new bridge started in November 2012 and was completed in September 2013. The new bridge will significantly simplify travel to and from the district. The bridge is 95 meters long and 14 meters wide now. The four-span bridge will improve the transport link between Gadabay city and the villages and contribute to the development of the district and tourism opportunities.
President Ilham Aliyev watched a video clip describing the improvement and landscaping work carried out in Gadabay.
It was indicated that in addition to the bridge, the Gadabay-Novosaratovka-Garavalilar road has also been renovated. The carriageway of the road is 11.5 meters and the sidewalk 2.5 meters wide. The Gadabay-Novosaratovka section of the road was refurbished as part of the first stage. After the new roadbed had been built, it was filled with asphalt concrete. The roadsides affected by flood waters have been restored. The length of this section of the road is 27 km. The two-lane road is 7 meters wide. The construction on this section of the road has now been completed. The second stage will see the construction of the Novosaratovka-Garavalilar stretch of the road. The length of this stretch will be 29 km. According to the project, a 6-meter two-lane road will be built on a 10-meter wide roadbed. In addition, concrete drain gutters and road shoulders will be built in some places of the road and metal stoppers in others. Construction is now under way on this section of the road. Both projects have been successfully completed by the “GanjaKorpuTikinti” OJSC.
The President praised work done.
