Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the Gadabay School of Ashig Music

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of the Gadabay School of Ashig Music.

First, the head of state met with representatives of the district public.

Ashig musicians from Gadabay saluted the President of Azerbaijan with a special performance.

Then Ashig Isfandiyar Rustamov made remarks at the ceremony.

Gadabay Ashig musicians presented the head of state with a saz.

President Ilham Aliyev addressed the Gadabay District public with a speech.

Professor Maharram Gasimli expressed his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the attention being paid to the development of the district.

Then President Ilham Aliyev watched a performance of young Ashig singers.

President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the Gadabay School of Ashig Music and toured the building.

The foundation of this music school was laid in a ceremony attended by President Ilham Aliyev in 2009. The statue of Ashig Alasgar has been erected in the courtyard of the building. There is a photo stand in the lobby describing the attention of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev about the development of Gadabay and their visits to the district.

It was noted that the construction of the two-storey building was completed in June of this year. Construction work was carried out by “Lider Monolit”. There is a library and recital room here, where numerous books and publications about music history are displayed. The 121-seat assembly hall covering an area of 194 square meters and the stage are fitted with all the necessary equipment. There is also a recording studio here. In addition to various ancillary rooms, there is a make-up room and a canteen at the school. All classrooms are well suited for conducting music lessons at a high level.

Another distinctive feature of the school is the presence of a museum of Ashig art. The museum provides information about Ashigs from Gadabay, including renowned players of the saz. Different exhibits describing the Ashig music in great detail are also on display. There are more than 150 Ashig musicians in the district now. Photos of well-known Ashig musicians, as well as the decrees of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev on the development of the Ashig art, are posted on the walls on the second floor of the school.
