Ilham Aliyev reviewed secondary schools No 19 and 240 in the Nasimi district of Baku after major overhaul and reconstruction

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has reviewed secondary schools No 19 and 240 in the Nasimi district of Baku after major overhaul and reconstruction.

Major overhaul and reconstruction of secondary schools in the capital is carried out in accordance with the action plan envisaged under the state program on the socioeconomic development of Baku and its suburban settlements. The repair work is complemented by the construction of additional classrooms, new school buildings, sports and assembly halls, school canteens, etc. Schools in need are also provided with the necessary equipment. On the eve of the new academic year, the head of state visits some of the renovated school and enquires about the conditions in them.

First, President Ilham Aliyev examined repair and reconstruction of secondary school No 19.

Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalibov informed the President about the work done. It was noted that the first building of the school, which was commissioned in 1964, is a three-storey and the second is one-storey. In 2006, in an effort to eliminate the shortage of student places, a new building consisting of additional classrooms for 400 pupils was constructed. The school for 1,600 pupils currently provides education to 1,417 schoolchildren. All classrooms, four computer classrooms, as well as chemistry, physics, biology classrooms, a conference room, indoor and outdoor playgrounds have been overhauled. The school is fitted with modern equipment. An area of 8 hectares has been landscaped.

Then, President Ilham Aliyev reviewed secondary school No 240.

The head of state was informed about the overhaul and reconstruction work carried out. It was noted that the school building was commissioned in 1967. In order to address the lack of student places, additional classrooms were built in 2008. The school for 1,200 pupils conducts classes in one shift. In accordance with the state program, all classrooms, subject-specific rooms, the assembly hall and the gym have been overhauled and fitted with the necessary equipment. An area of two hectares has been landscaped. The school is equipped with a modern lighting and heating systems.
