President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has reviewed the condition of secondary school No 26 in the Buzovna settlement of the Khazar district after major overhaul and reconstruction and attended the opening of its new building.

In accordance with the action plan envisaged in the state program on the socioeconomic development of Baku and its suburban settlements, the major overhaul and reconstruction of secondary schools of the capital is well under way. Along with the repair work, new classrooms, additional school buildings, gyms, assembly halls and canteens are built for some schools and fitted with the necessary equipment. Besides, the areas around educational institutions are landscaped.

The head of state reviewed the photo stand reflecting the condition of secondary school No. 26 prior to the overhaul.

Informing President Ilham Aliyev about the work done, Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalibov said that the school had been built in 1969. In accordance with the state program, its overhaul and reconstruction were completed last year. Classrooms, the gym and the assembly hall have been completely refurbished. All the electrical and communication lines have been replaced.

The head of state examined the classrooms, the gym and the assembly hall, and enquired about the work done.

Then, President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the new building of the school. It was noted that due to the congestion of classrooms, a new school building was constructed in accordance with the latest standards. The construction of the new building, which consists of 40 classrooms, was carried out in a short time and with high quality. The classrooms have the necessary conditions to ensure the highest level of education. The new building also has two modern computer classrooms connected to the Internet. It was indicated that classes at the school for 2,340 pupils would be conducted mainly in one shift.

The new school building also has a modern communications system and a sustainable power supply.
