President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of hydroelectric power station “Ismayilli-1” built near Sumagalli village of Ismayilli District.
The president of the “AzerEnergy” OJSC, Etibar Pirverdiyev, informed the President of Azerbaijan that hydroelectric power station "Ismayilli-1" is a facility built as part of a program on the rational use of alternative energy sources. The construction of small hydroelectric plants saves fuel in electricity generation, while at the same time not causing any damage to the environment.
President Ilham Aliyev was informed about the construction of the station, its activities and main components of the project. It was indicated that the construction of the station had begun in 2011. The delivery of the main and auxiliary equipment, as well as all of the construction and assembly work, was carried out by “Azenco”. A total of 100 people worked on the construction of the station. A water intake plant, three pipelines 2,115 meters in length and 800 millimeters in diameter each and a building of the station built during construction.
In the lobby of the station there is a photo stand describing the attention of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to the development of power engineering in Azerbaijan, as well as the projects undertaken for the modernization of the industry. The building operates control, protection and management systems.
President Ilham Aliyev launched the station from a control center.
It was noted that the station consists of three turbines with a combined design capacity of 1,600 kilowatts and three hydro generators. It has a 10/0.4-kilovolt substation and transmission lines.
The treated water flowing downstream from the station will be supplied to hydroelectric power plant "Ismayilli-2", which is still under construction Thus, the Ismayilli power station will become a cascade of small hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 3,200 kilowatts. This project is very effective and significant. The diversion-type hydropower plant being constructed near the village of Sumagalli is capable of generating 8,000,000 kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually.
Twelve people will be provided with permanent jobs at the power plant. The station has been landscaped and a modern lighting system installed.
The President of Azerbaijan expressed his satisfaction with the work done and gave further instructions.
