Ilham Aliyev reviewed work on the reconstruction of the Zabrat-Buzovna section of the Sabunchu-Zabrat-Mashtaga-Buzovna highway

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has reviewed work on the reconstruction of the Zabrat-Buzovna section of the 20-km Sabunchu-Zabrat-Mashtaga-Buzovna highway.

On the instructions of the President the development of Baku and suburban settlements has been at the center of attention. Further modernization of the road infrastructure is to be carried out under the state program covering 2011-2013, an extension to the "Program of measures to accelerate the socioeconomic development of suburban settlements of Baku for 2006-2007" approved by a Decree of President Ilham Aliyev. The construction of modern roads, bridges, tunnels, underground and overhead pedestrian crossings has assumed consistent nature in and around Baku.

Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov described the project on the reconstruction of the Zabrat-Buzovna section of the Sabunchu-Zabrat roundabout-Mashtaga-Buzovna highway and updated the President on the key parameters of the road. It was noted that an 11-km stretch of the road is six-lane and a 9-km section is 4-lane. The reconstruction of the Sabunchu-Zabrat section was carried out in 2012 and of the 14-km Zabrat-Mashtaga-Buzovna stretch in 2012-2013.

The road has been reconstructed according to modern requirements, linking the settlements of Sabunchu, Zabrat, Mashtaga, Nardaran, Buzovna, Zagulba and Bilgah with each other and, most importantly, with the Azadlig Square-Airport-Bilgah highway. It is expected to facilitate the movement of more than 140,000 people.
