President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of a center for the production of large-caliber ammunition at a telematics factory of the Ministry of Defense Industry.
Over seven years of its operation, the Ministry of the Defense Industry has implemented a series of measures to ensure that the enterprises under its control are provided with the latest technology and equipment. It has purchased and installed dozens of pieces of production equipment, more than 1,500 machines, appliances and instruments. The new sites put in place at the enterprises of the Ministry operate at full capacity to provide the armed forces of Azerbaijan with cutting-edge defense industry products, equipment and supplies used in machine-building, instrumentation, electrical and telecommunication areas.
One of such sites is the center for the production of large-caliber ammunition at a telematics factory in Shirvan.
The head of state launched the center and watched the production process.
The Minister of the Defense Industry, Yavar Jamalov, informed the President of Azerbaijan that 7,000,000 rounds of three types are to be manufactured here in a three-shift mode each year. More than half of the 106 machines installed at the center are specialized process equipment manufactured in European countries. The new site operates sections on automated machining, stamping, thermal and chemical treatment, technical control, pressing of pyrotechnical and explosive substances, assembly lines and a laboratory. It is envisaged that 264 qualified specialists will be employed here. Employees have undergone specialized training provided by foreign experts.
The new office building of a control and test center is to verify the performance characteristics of products manufactured at the enterprise, their endurance to climate change and transport vibration. There are also three sites for test shooting. During the tests it is possible to check the ballistic characteristics of different caliber bullets - pressure, speed and accuracy.
President Ilham Aliyev praised the work done and wished the staff every success.
