Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the national drama theater

President Ilham Aliyev has taken part in the opening of the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theater after its renovation, refurbishment and restoration.

First, the President, his wife Mehriban Aliyeva and daughter Arzu Aliyeva were familiarized with the improvement work carried out in the square outside the theater.

Then President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the pictures reflecting the previous appearance of the theater building, the process of reconstruction activities and its present condition.

Work on major overhaul of the theater building commenced in November 2008 following a Resolution of President Ilham Aliyev dated 19 February 2007 “On developing Azerbaijan’s theater arts”. The façade of the building has been changed and roofing replaced. Special attention during renovation was paid to the preservation of the original architectural style and further enrichment of it with national ornaments.

President Ilham Aliyev was familiarized with the work done in lobbies, in the hall, central box, on the stage, rehearsal areas, technical equipment and make-up rooms.

It was indicated that the theater’s acoustical and lighting systems have been renovated in accordance with modern technologies. The theater is now fully ready for the new season.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the work done and issued instructions and recommendations.
