Teachers and pupils warmly welcomed the head of state.
President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon marking the opening and toured the school building.
The President was informed that the old building of the school, which was more than 130 years old, was last renovated in 1986. The construction of a new building for the school, which was in a run-down condition for many years, has now been successfully completed. A total of 306 pupils are receiving education in the new three-storey building. The teaching staff includes 45 people. The school is intended for 568 pupils. Rooms and subject-specific classrooms are fitted with modern aids and equipment meeting contemporary requirements. In the library, there is a supply of about 8,000 books and a section on Heydar Aliyev. Computer classrooms have the necessary technical capacities for studying information technologies. There are 19 computers connected to the Internet in each classroom. The school has two classrooms equipped with an electronic board for conducting lessons in an electronic format. There is also a military office provided with necessary materials. The gym, fitted with different sports equipment, can host mini-football, basketball and volleyball competitions.
In other words, the school, consisting of three buildings, has all the necessary infrastructure to conduct lessons at a high level.
After touring the school, the head of state met with its teachers.
Teacher Sakina Jabbarli indicated that the creative work under way in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and throughout Azerbaijan was causing a tremendous sense of pride. New facilities are being commissioned and the necessary infrastructure created. She expressed her gratitude to the head of state for that.
Congratulating the people of Yengija on the opening of the new school building, President Ilham Aliyev said:
- Let me heartily congratulate you on the opening of the new school. This is a beautiful, very comfortable and modern school fitted with all the equipment. In other words, there are great conditions for children to study well here. There are also good conditions for teachers. The construction of this school is a very significant event. It demonstrates that school construction is well under way in every part of Azerbaijan. In fact, this school does not look like a village school at all. This is a magnificent, beautiful, spacious and bright school. Today, such fine schools are under construction in all villages of Azerbaijan. Our policy is to create all conditions for people to live and work everywhere, in all districts, even remote villages.
All social issues are being dealt with very successfully and efficiently in Sharur district. Last time I participated in the opening of an Olympic center, commissioning of the central district hospital. The establishment of other social infrastructure facilities is successfully under way. The construction of this school is the result of attention being paid to the district.
I am very pleased that the leadership of the autonomous republic does all this work with great taste and love. It is possible to do anything because Azerbaijan’s economic opportunities are expanding, we have financial resources and in-depth programs. But at the same time, every citizen must adequately perform his duties. Creative work and landscaping are in full swing in Nakhchivan, and this makes me very happy. Every time I come to Nakhchivan I see these innovations, the modern approach.
Nakhchivan has an ancient history, a rich cultural heritage, great traditions. All our historical past and national values are safeguarded at the proper level. At the same time, modern conditions and infrastructure are being created. There are all possibilities for people to live and work well. Jobs are opening, schools, hospitals, sports facilities are under construction, roads and water pipelines are being laid. Today we will mark completion of the first stage of Nakhchivan’s water program. This suggests that the country has a sound policy in all areas and this work is carried out at a high level. This school looks like those in major cities of developed countries, it may even be better. This is our approach, these are present-day realities in Azerbaijan.
Let me heartily congratulate you on the opening of this great school and wish you every success in your work.
Then a picture was taken.
