Ilham Aliyev attended the holiday of flowers organized in the capital of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 90th birthday anniversary of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev

A magnificent holiday of flowers has been organized in the park outside the Heydar Aliyev palace on the occasion of the 90th birthday anniversary of nationwide leader of the Azerbaijani people, world famous political figure Heydar Aliyev.

President Ilham Aliyev, his wife Mehriban Aliyeva and their family members joined the holiday of flowers.

The President and his family members were photographed with the monument to great leader Heydar Aliyev in the background.

Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalibov informed the President that the park, which is a popular place of recreation for the residents and visitors of the capital, has been transformed into a wonderful flower garden.

The fact that the holiday of flowers is conducted in the park where the monument to nationwide leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev has been erected is not only a sign of respect for the memory of the brilliant statesman, but also a smart step towards organizing the recreation of city residents.

Particularly attractive in the park is the majestic monument to the builder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, the brilliant son of our people, nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev whose 90th birthday anniversary we celebrate on 10 May. The pedestal of the monument is decorated with flowers. One of the most beautiful compositions has been established in front of Heydar Aliyev Palace. It represents a flower portrait of the great leader with mountain peaks in the background. Special beauty is imparted to the park by flower carpets and other compositions.

Colorful arrangement of flowers, plants and foliage exhibited in the event, which has been organized by the Executive Authority of Baku city, are beautiful, expressive and pleasing to the eye. There is a pleasant spring atmosphere everywhere.

This year’s flower festival will be remembered by one more event. The Association of Dutch Friends of Azerbaijan, DufoA, has decided to give a new variety of chrysanthemums it has grown the name “Azeri” in honor of the Azerbaijani people. In this regard, a signing ceremony of a special certificate was organized on the sidelines of the festival.

The document was signed by President Ilham Aliyev, his wide Mehriban Aliyeva and President of the DufoA Association, van der Vegt.

It took five years to cultivate this chrysanthemum variety. Thus, the only flower in the world to be named after a nation has emerged.

Everything was pleasing to the eye during the flower festival. The area around the fountain was laid with flowers as well. Children wearing flower costumes gave the festival a special holiday mood.

The President and his wife had a warm chat with the children participating in the festival and were photographed with them.

Another interesting feature of this festival of flowers was a procession of hundreds of children in front of the Heydar Aliyev Palace.
