Ilham Aliyev visited the grave of great leader Heydar Aliyev

10 May marks the 90th birthday anniversary of the architect and founding father of the modern and independent state of Azerbaijan, outstanding statesman, great son and nationwide leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev. The grateful people of Azerbaijan and those who knew and loved Heydar Aliyev all over the world have been marking the birthday of this great personality without him for 10 years.

The 90th birthday anniversary of great leader Heydar Aliyev is widely celebrated both throughout the republic and in foreign countries. A series of events are held in all regions of the country to mark this significant date – the 90th birthday anniversary of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev, the savior of the people of Azerbaijan, the founder of the modern and independent state of Azerbaijan, the author of the strategy of eternal development who has put our country on a path of steady progress. Embassies, diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan in foreign countries and representatives of the Diaspora are conducting large-scale activities in connection with the 90th birthday anniversary of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev, promoting the rich and multifaceted activities of the prominent political figure and his contributions to our nation.

Both on the eve of the birthday of the nationwide leader and on 10 May, representatives of the public, people who have come to Baku from different regions and cities of the country, visitors of the Azerbaijani capital visited the Alley of Honors from the early hours of the morning to pay homage to the bright memory of Heydar Aliyev and to lay flowers to his grave.

President  Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva, members of their family, relatives and friends of the great leader came to the Alley of Honors to visit the grave of the savior of our people on the day of his birth.

A guard of honor was arranged.

President Ilham Aliyev laid a wreath at the grave of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and bowed his head to his memory.

The national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.

Then, President Ilham Aliyev and his family members paid tribute to the renowned scholar and ophthalmologist, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, outstanding statesman Aziz Aliyev and well-known doctor and scientist Tamerlan Aliyev, and laid flowers.

The ceremony of paying tribute to the memory of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev was also attended by Prime Minister Artur Rasizadeh, Parliament Speaker Ogtay Asadov, Head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, ministers, heads of committees and companies, MP.
