President Ilham Aliyev has reviewed progress of construction in a park, garden and fountains under construction above the car park between Fizuli and Mirzaga Aliyev Streets in Baku.

Consistent work has been carried out in recent years to improve and modernize the infrastructure of Baku. Parks and alleys of the capital are being reconstructed and landscaped and new recreation areas put in place. The construction of a modern park complex above the underground parking on the area between Fizuli and Mirzaga Aliyev Streets is highly important to further renewing the appearance of the city and facilitating the recreation of the city residents. The President of Azerbaijan keeps the construction of the complex under control and regularly enquires about the progress of work.

Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalibov informed President Ilham Aliyev about the park complex. It was noted that the new park under construction is to be the biggest in Baku. The park covers an area of 7 hectares. Granite and ceramic slabs have been laid over an area of 20,000 square meters. An area of 6,000 square meters in the park proper and adjoining streets and avenues are being asphalted. An area of 32,000 square meters has been landscaped. The landscaped area will cover 35,000 square meters. A total of 35,000 cubic meters of fertile land has been brought to the site. About 2,000 trees, almost 10,000 ornamental bushes, a large number of flowers will be planted and the whole area covered with a lawn. Ninety per cent of the vegetation work has already been completed.

It was also indicated that the park has five fountains meeting the latest standards. The fountains are now in the finishing stage. A separate station for fountain maintenance has been built on the technical floor. The green areas will be irrigated by an automatic system. The park complex has a new substation. Much of the state-of-the-art lighting system has already been installed. The park will also operate three outdoor cafés. Landscaping of the surrounding buildings and the adjoining area is ongoing.

President Ilham Aliyev also reviewed the process of sliding a building at 39 Fizuli Street backwards. Built by the Hajinsky brothers in 1908, the building is considered a historical and architectural monument. In accordance with an order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the sliding of this 18,000-ton historical and architectural site backwards to a distance of 10.5 meters started on 23 April. The original appearance of the building will be preserved. The relocation of the building is carried out by the Dutch company Bresser, which possesses the most advanced experience in this field in the world.

President Ilham Aliyev was informed about the process. It was indicated that the area to which the building is being relocated has a solid foundation, which will ensure stability of the historical building for a sustained period. It was noted that the process of relocation will be completed tonight.

President Ilham Aliyev observed the process of relocation.

Then the head of state reviewed the progress of construction in the park, garden and fountain complex and gave relevant instructions and recommendations.
