Ilham Aliyev visited the Independence Square Complex

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who is on an official visit to Uzbekistan, and President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov arrived at the Independence square, located in the center of Tashkent. 

President Ilham Aliyev laid a wreath at the “Independence and humanism” monument, erected on the square, under the sounds of the music performed by the military orchestra. 

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov gave information about the Independence Square complex and the monument. 

It was noted that this monument, built with the initiative of President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, is a symbol of Uzbekistan’s freedom, independence and future. A happy mother holding her baby is depicted on the monument. The monument on this square - one of the favorite leisure spots of Tashkent residents, is mostly visited by newly married couples. 

President Islam Karimov talked about the other monuments of the complex, adding that each year, on May 9, residents of the capital lay flowers at the “Mournful mother” monument. 

President Ilham Aliyev was informed about the works carried out on the Independence Square Complex.
