Ilham Aliyev visited the first Caspian international exhibition of water technologies CATEF-2013

The first Caspian international exhibition of water technologies CATEF-2013 has been opened at the Baku Expo Center.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the exhibition.

Informing the head of state, the president of the "Azersu" OJSC, Gorkhmaz Huseynov, noted that the water supply of cities, district centers and villages was being rebuilt in Azerbaijan in recent years. Cooperation with international financial organizations and foreign companies in this field is expanding. In addition, the large-scale projects in the area of water supply and sanitation being implemented in the country and the prospects for the application of new technologies further enhance investor interest in the region. Clear evidence of that is the CATEF-2013 exhibition.

It was noted that the CATEF-2013 exhibition was the only specialized event in the Caspian region, which demonstrates achievements in the field of water technology. The exhibition has been organized at the initiative and with active support of the "Azersu" OJSC. Its partner is Iteca Caspian LLC. Held in the South Caucasus region for the first time, the exhibition on this subject demonstrates extensive interest in water technologies.

More than 70 companies from 23 countries around the world are participating in the show, demonstrating the latest technologies and services in the field of water and sanitation. During this exhibition, local and foreign companies are provided a great opportunity to showcase their products and technologies.

It was brought to the attention of the head of state that the prevalence of companies from the USA, European countries, Japan and the Republic of Korea at the exhibition confirms that the enterprises possessing experience in the area of high technology attach great importance to this event. Along with Azerbaijan, CATEF-2013 brings together products and services in the field of water infrastructure from countries such as Turkey, USA, South Korea, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Austria, France, Sweden, etc. This confirms the importance of such exhibitions in terms of the introduction of new technologies, attraction of foreign investment and expansion of international partnerships.

President Ilham Aliyev visited different pavilions of the exhibition.

While touring the pavilion of the American company Dow, the President was informed that the company offers ion exchange resins used in water recycling, as well as a wide range of deionizing products. At present, the company is actively involved in the construction in Baku of the world's largest ultrafiltration plant for the treatment of drinking water.

The construction of this facility is scheduled for completion in 2013. Its capacity will be 520,000 cubic meters of water per day.

Occupying a leading market position, German company Herrenknecht is one of the top enterprises engaged in tunnel drilling technologies. Herrenknecht is the only company in the world producing the most sophisticated machines for the drilling of tunnels all sizes and in any type of soil.

When visiting the pavilion of the Swedish company Nordic Water Products AB, the President of Azerbaijan was informed that the company was engaged in the delivery and installation of screens used for the separation of granular particles, as well as the associated equipment.

The Russian company Ecoline manufactures equipment from a glass fiber plastic material. This mainly includes equipment used in the treatment of waste water at domestic and industrial facilities, as well as products for the treatment and pumping of sewage.

Then President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the pavilion of the international research and manufacturing company Ekoton. The company is Russia's largest wastewater treatment enterprise. Its equipment is manufactured at the plants located in Russia, Ukraine, Poland and Kazakhstan.

Local companies are also extensively represented at the exhibition. The Sumgayit technology park commissioned with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev in 2009 is the only such facility in the South Caucasus and Central Asia. This enterprise operates plants of various specializations. One of them is a plastic products factory. It manufactures pressure-resistant laminated plastic tubes with an aluminum layer for gas and water lines, fiber-glass sandwich pipes and other products.

President Ilham Aliyev also examined the pavilion of the “Azersu” OJSC.

The chairman of the company, Gorkhmaz Huseynov, informed the President that the pavilion contains stands describing the projects being implemented in Baku, Absheron and other regions.

President Ilham Aliyev was also informed about the settlements of the Absheron Peninsula which will begin to receive water in 2013, as well as the Master Plan which provides for long-term development to 2035. It was noted that water and sanitation projects were currently implemented in 38 cities and district centers, as well as more than 350 villages of the country. Using the SCADA system of control and data acquisition, online monitors display the operation of the Oguz-Gabala-Baku water line. The head of state was also informed about the "Azersu-GIS” project, which provides for the preparation of an electronic map of the underground infrastructure.

President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the layouts of the Jeyranbatan ultrafiltration water treatment plant, a central laboratory, a new office building of the company and the Hovsan aeration station.

It was indicated that the construction of the central laboratory was close to completion and that it would be put into operation this year.

It was also brought to the attention of the President that in order to ensure quality implementation of projects and study the modern technology and foreign experience, the company employees were attending courses in Singapore, Turkey, South Korea and other countries, as well as those inside Azerbaijan.

While touring the pavilion of the French company SUEZ Environnement, President Ilham Aliyev was informed that the enterprise and its subsidiaries offer millions of people and economic entities around the world the best practices in the area of sanitary control over drinking water resources and waste management.

Turkish company Elektromed offers a wide range of devices for the measurement of the amount of water, gas and heat.

The President of Azerbaijan was informed that the Caspian International Forum of water technologies was held at the same time with the exhibition.

After becoming acquainted with the exhibition, the President wished the first Caspian international exhibition and forum of water technologies CATEF-2013 every success.
