President Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of the first phase of the shooting club the construction of which has been completed in the Bum settlement of Gabala District.

The vice-president of the Shooting Federation of Azerbaijan, Rasim Rzayev, informed the President that the designer of the Gabala shooting club is the Main State Design and Technology Institute "AzerInshaatLayihe" of the state agency for monitoring safety of construction under the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The construction of the first phase of the Gabala shooting club, which began in June last year, has been completed.

It was noted that an office building of the club, shooting ranges, firing areas, training centers, a shop of sporting and hunting equipment and a canteen have been built in a mountainous terrain covering an area of 25 hectares. The premises of the club have been landscaped, a modern lighting system and an additional generator installed and a boiler built.

There is a bust of great leader Heydar Aliyev in the lobby of the office building. The building, constructed in an interesting architectural style, has a registration department, rooms for meetings and training, and a special room for monitoring the results in the firing zone. The building will operate a separate medical station. Visitors to the club will enter the firing area on electric vehicles. There are special rules for the use of sporting weapons. Weapons in the firing area will be surrendered after being discharged. In order to ensure safety and fire protection, surveillance cameras and special stations have been installed. While in the firing area, sportsmen will shoot at targets flying at a speed of 15-42 meters per second. With this aim a number of target facilities have been installed.

President Ilham Aliyev made several accurate shots at flying targets from a sport weapon.

It was noted that special attention at the club is paid to the most common form of shooting, sports shooting, which is included in the Olympic program. The club has an area equipped with all necessary technical supplies for the Olympic competition. There is a separate sector for viewers of the competition and an electronic scoreboard showing the results. In addition, the club has a 10-meter shooting range covering an area of 1,200 square meters and a 25-meter shooting range on an area of 3,000 square meters. There is also a training center for children and adolescents. All in all, there is an armory covering an area of 300 square meter, five circular and trench sites for trap shooting covering 4.5 hectares, and eight sites covering an area of 4,000 square meters. The equipment for circular and trench shooting and trap shooting galleries has been delivered from France and Switzerland, while the electronic scoreboard has been brought from Italy. The operation of a shop of sporting and hunting equipment is one of the key features of the club. The shop will sell the latest technical equipment used in sport shooting, sporting arms, outfit, etc. Designers of the club have also taken into account the desires of those interested in fishing.

It was noted that the next phase of the work would focus on the commissioning of 50- and 25-meter shooting galleries for 45 slots, a 10-meter shooting gallery for 30 slots, eight circular trenches, seven sites, a 25-50-meter archery site, a room and an area for charging and maintenance of electric vehicles, and a lounge.

The President expressed his satisfaction with the work done and gave instructions and recommendations relating to the work to be done at the next phase.
