On August 31, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
Conveying his congratulations on the successful conduct of the first elections to the new parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan—the Kurultai—the head of state noted that this was another demonstration of the Kazakh people's support for the large-scale reforms carried out in the country under the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The President of Kazakhstan expressed his gratitude for the congratulatory letter sent by President Ilham Aliyev and for the active participation of observers from Azerbaijan in the elections.
During the meeting, the Presidents hailed the successful development of strategic partnership and allied relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan and stressed the importance of high-level reciprocal visits and contacts in deepening bilateral ties.
They also discussed transport and logistics issues, touched upon the significance of the Middle Corridor, and exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in this area.
The heads of state also discussed the upcoming summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, which will be held in Baku.
The conversation also covered future contacts and other issues of mutual interest.
