President Ilham Aliyev has reviewed progress of construction of underground parking, park, garden and a fountain complex on an area between Fizuli and Mirzaga Aliyev Streets of Baku.

Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalibov informed the President about the project.

It was noted that in accordance with the instructions of the President of Azerbaijan, consistent measures continue to be taken to improve and modernize the infrastructure of Baku. The road infrastructure of the capital is being overhauled and substantial work done to eliminate traffic jams. The construction of underground parking and a park complex on the area between Fizuli and Mirzaga Aliyev Streets is highly important to eliminating traffic jams and ensuring safe movement and recreation of the city population.

It was noted that the first and second floors of the complex would accommodate underground parking, while the third floor would have a separate substation to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to the facility. The third floor will also have a fire tank, equipment for purifying car emissions, and offices. The same floor will house technical stations of the fountains to be set up above the car park and a water tank for irrigating plants. The car park is designed for almost
4,000 cars. To date, construction has been completed on an area of 205,000 square meters.

It was indicated that for fire safety reasons the parking lot will have 31 additional entrances and exits. All technical services of the parking lot will meet the latest standards. Above the parking there will be a complex of parks, gardens and fountains covering 70,000 square meters. It was noted that seven subways would be built in the complex to facilitate convenient and safe movement of the population.

It was noted that the underground parking would have 14 elevators and 30 escalators to take people to the park, gardens and fountains above. An additional 10 escalators will be installed for people with disabilities. The nearby apartment building at 39 Fizuli Street, which is an architectural masterpiece, will not be knocked down but moved 11 meters back. The operation involving the transfer of the 18-ton building will be carried out by the Dutch company Bressel. The buildings and the area around the complex will be landscaped.
