Ilham Aliyev attended a ceremony to open new apartments for flood victims

New apartments have been built and commissioned for the citizens whose houses were destroyed in the Meyniman village of Hajigabul District in the wake of the Kura River bursting its banks. In a ceremony on 7 September, owners of the new apartments received ownership certificates.

President Ilham Aliyev attended the ceremony.

The head of state first reviewed the pictures of the destroyed houses and new apartments.

The President visited the apartment of village resident Marhamat Yagubov and examined the living conditions there. On the instruction of the head of state, the new apartments are fitted with all the necessary equipment.

The President was informed that 35 houses in the Meyniman village of Hajigabul District were completely destroyed and 64 brought to an emergency condition as a result of the Kura River bursting its banks. On the instruction of President Ilham Aliyev, the problems of Meyniman and other villages and settlements were kept in the focus of attention. 22 new houses were built instead of the destroyed houses. Special attention was paid to the creation of the necessary infrastructure and bringing subsidiary plots to a normal condition. 15 of the modern-style houses have two rooms, three have three rooms and four have four rooms. While destroyed houses covered a total of 1539 square meters, the new ones cover an area of 2150 square meters. The construction of new houses in the village is ongoing. Besides, restoration and strengthening work is underway on 21 houses. A total of 110 people living in 43 houses have received financial assistance in excess of AZN 109,000. Work is also underway on the reconstruction of the destroyed Meyniman village infrastructure. Construction of a new road to the village is underway.

President Ilham Aliyev congratulated owners of new apartments are presented them with certificates and keys.

Village residents Talib Huseynov and Safuraxanim Gozalova thanked the head of state for the attention and care shown to them.
