President Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of a reconstructed bridge over the River Araz on the Saatli-Musali-Mazrali road.
The head of state reviewed the stands specifying the roads the construction of which will start and be completed in 2013, as well the condition of the bridge before and after the reconstruction.
Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov informed the President about the roads the construction of which will start and be completed in 2013. It was noted that the construction of a 112.1-km road in the direction of Hajigabul-Bahramtapa, a 94-km road in the direction of Agsu-Kurdamir-Bahramtapa, a 85-km road in the direction of Kurdamir-Yevlakh, a 20-km road in the direction of Goychay-Ujar and an 18-km road in the direction of the Barda-Tartar was envisaged. A total of 40 bridges will be built on these roads.
While examining the technical parameters of the bridge over the River Araz, the head of state was informed that this structure built on a local road linking Saatli and Imishli consists of seven spans. The reconstruction of the bridge was started by “Azerkorpu” OJSC on orders of the Ministry of Transport in July last year. The bridge, which was in emergency condition before, has been completely reconstructed. The bridge is 238.8 meters long now, the road width is 11.5 meters and 14.4 meters together with the sidewalks. During the reconstruction, pavements, railings and the roadway section of the bridge were reinforced. As a result, the safety of heavy-duty vehicles and cars moving in the direction Saatli-Imishli and back, as well as the pedestrians, has been fully ensured. The restoration also took into account the rising water level in the River Araz in the spring and other natural factors.

The President of Azerbaijan was also informed about the construction of a bridge over the River Kura on the Hajigabul-Horadiz road. It was noted that the total length of the bridge would be 317.7 meters and width 14.8 meters.
The head of state praised the work done and gave instructions on completing the construction in a quality and timely manner.
