Ilham Aliyev received World Bank Regional Director for South Caucasus

The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, received Mrs. Rolande Pryce, the Regional Director for the South Caucasus at the World Bank.

During the meeting, the head of state expressed gratitude to the World Bank for its valuable support in the modernization and diversification of Azerbaijan's economy. President Ilham Aliyev commended the productive collaboration that has transpired over the preceding years and underscored the significance of securing funding for forthcoming specific initiatives and projects. Furthermore, the head of state emphasized that Azerbaijan has diligently worked to reduce its foreign debt in recent years, successfully achieving this objective.

The World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus conveyed her satisfaction with the 30-year partnership between the World Bank and Azerbaijan, commending Azerbaijan's remarkable progress and outstanding achievements. She conveyed the World Bank's pleasure in being a steadfast partner to Azerbaijan in its development journey.

The meeting also saw discussions on the prevailing areas of the World Bank's activities in Azerbaijan, along with the exploration of new domains and projects aligned with the "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities on Socio-Economic Development" framework. Both parties acknowledged that significant areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the World Bank include renewable energy, the green economy, urban development, transportation coordination, agriculture, and irrigation.
