President Ilham Aliyev has attended a ceremony to lay the foundation of the Shirvan-Mugan water supply system in Hajigabul.
The head of state reviewed the stand describing the plan and technical parameters of the Shirvan-Mugan water supply system.
The Chairman of the “Azersu” Joint Stock Company, Gorkhmaz Huseynov, informed President Ilham Aliyev that the water transported through one of the Kura-Baku pipelines would address water needs of Hajigabul, Shirvan, Salyan, Neftchala and Bilasuvar, as well as a total of 121 villages, including 41 in Salyan, 44 in Neftchala, 23 in Bilasuvar and 13 in Sabirabad Districts. The commissioning of the Shirvan-Mugan water supply system will enable continuous water supply of 470,000 people. In addition to the main line, water supply and sewage systems will be reconstructed and a waste water treatment plant built in every city in accordance with modern requirements. According to the project, the construction of the Shirvan-Mugan water supply system will be completed by the end of 2013.
Then the President of Azerbaijan laid the foundation of the Shirvan-Mugan water supply system. The President launched the grouting facility.
The President reviewed the building materials and equipment to be used in the construction of water pipelines.

Describing the event as a momentous day in the life of the country, the President congratulated those present on the start of the new project.
President Aliyev said water and sanitation projects were well under way in the country in recent years. He said the main task was to complete the implementation all of these projects in Azerbaijan in several years.
Speaking of other ongoing projects, President Aliyev said the country's energy resources can fully ensure Azerbaijan’s energy security. Gasification projects were successfully ongoing throughout the country. The plan is to bring the level of gasification up to 95 per cent next year. Serious measures are taken to build rural roads.
The funds allocated from the President’s contingency fund are primarily spent on this work.
The President said that modern water supply systems built in Baku and in the districts are an important contribution to public health. President Aliyev said the Oguz-Gabala-Baku water pipeline played a crucial role in the water supply of Baku.
Then the president of “Azersu” OJSC, Gorkhmaz Huseynov, the head of the Hajigabul District Executive Authority, Ahmad Mukhtarov, Shirvan resident Aynura Rzayeva and the chairman of the Gizilagaj municipality of Salyan District, Bunyad Yolchuyev, thanked President Aliyev for the boundless care and attention to the solution of problems in the districts and a steady improvement of people’s livelihoods.
In conclusion, the President congratulated and wished all the best to the residents of the six districts covered by the Shirvan-Mugan water supply system.
