The Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Vasif Talibov, informed the President that as is the case in other parts of the country, the healthcare system of Nakhchivan is undergoing the most successful period in its development. The medical institutions of the autonomous republic are being fitted with equipment that meets the latest requirements. One of the modern medical facilities established here in recent years is the Nakhchivan city outpatient clinic named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
It was noted that the healthcare facility started to operate as an outpatient clinic of the Nakhchivan city hospital in 1921 and was transformed into the central clinic in 1930. In 1972 it was separated from the city hospital to become the Nakhchivan city outpatient clinic. Since 1990, the clinic has been named after the outstanding ophthalmologist, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
In 1990 and 1999, nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev visited the clinic to unveil a bust of Zarifa Aliyeva and a section of the clinic dedicated to her memory. It was noted that the six-storey building of the clinic has all the conditions for the provision of qualified medical care.
In the lobby there is a bust of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, interesting photos describing her life and work, as well as statements by renowned people about the ophthalmologist.
The books about Zarifa Aliyeva are of great interest.
President Ilham Aliyev was shown to a new dental center on the fifth and sixth floors of the building. There are 10 rooms, an operating theater, an X-ray room and dental prostheses laboratories. The center is equipped with 10 dental units, a panoramic X-ray machine, a dental X-ray unit, various autoclaves and sterilizers, a laser device, kits for testing and dental surgery, dentures, technical tools, seven sets of phantom tables for students and one for teachers, etc. There are 12 doctors, 19 medical workers and 20 junior staff working at the center.
The outpatient clinic occupies five floors of the building, including the basement. It has two therapeutic and one surgical department, an X-ray room, a laboratory, as well as ophthalmic, neurological, gynecological, dental, cardiologic, rheumatologic, trauma, gerontological, physiotherapy, ultrasound, infectious diseases, preventive examinations and ENT offices. The building also has a pharmacy, a cafeteria, a conference room and classrooms.
It was noted that the clinic employs 12 physicians providing services to 66,200 residents of Nakhchivan. The clinic has been provided with automatic analyzers for its laboratory, an X-ray machine, ECG and ultrasound examination units, a set of instruments for ENT and surgery offices, a set of surgical instruments, a lamp, a binocular loupe, an ophthalmoscope for the ophthalmic office, etc. Medical services will be provided by 37 physicians, 56 medical workers and 31 junior staff.
