Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of a third section of the tiered road junction at the crossing of the Ziya Bunyadov and Heydar Aliyev Avenues

A third section of the tiered road junction at the crossing of the Ziya Bunyadov and Heydar Aliyev Avenues near the Koroglu underground station has been commissioned.

The opening ceremony was attended by President Ilham Aliyev.

The head of state reviewed the stand describing the technical parameters of the road junction, as well as the roads and avenues of the capital to be renovated.

Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov briefed the President on the construction of the road junction and its technical parameters. It was noted that the construction of this road junction started on 11 April 2006 in line with a relevant order of President Ilham Aliyev. The total length of the structure which, according to the design, consists of three sections is 3,680 meters. It includes nine bridges, entrances to bridges and roads that are part of the transport interchange.

It was noted that the first section of the road junction, 1,286 meters in length, was commissioned on 23 September 2008. This section of the crossing has three bridges, access roads and the highway.

The second section of the junction was opened on 2 July 2010. It is 1,194 meters in length and includes five bridges and access roads. The total length of the third section is 1,200 meters. It has a suspended two-span overpass 360 meters in length.

It was noted that the third section was built to provide direct access for vehicles traveling from the airport to the 8th Kilometer, Ahmadli and Gunashli settlements and the Zykh-airport highway. The height of the suspended bearing of the overpass is 93 meters, while the width of the carriageway is 9 meters. The bridge span has 52 ropes. Waterproofing has been carried out on the carriageway area of 4,565 square meters. The two-lane road, six meters above ground, is one-way. Extensive landscaping work has been carried out on an area of 2,500 square meters around the overpass.

President Ilham Aliyev was also informed about the roads and avenues in Baku that are to be renovated. It was noted that 75.8 kilometers of roads in Baku would be renovated in July-September this year. Roads in Yusif Safarov Street, Azadlig and Azerbaijan Avenues, around the Oriental Market and in Koroglu Rahimov Street would be reconstructed.

The head of state cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the third section of the overpass.

President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the surroundings from the bridge. It was noted that the construction of this three-section road junction had been completed, providing free and safe movement of vehicles in the direction of the airport, Gara Garayev Avenue, 20 January, 8th Kilometer and Bakikhanov settlements and the city center. It will also contribute to resolving the problem of road congestion in this part of the city.
