President Ilham Aliyev has accepted the credentials of the newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Brazil to Azerbaijan, Sergio De Souza Fontes Arruda.

The Ambassador presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.
Then President Ilham Aliyev had a discussion with the Ambassador.
The President pointed to a mutual interest in expanding bilateral relations and developing the partnership between Azerbaijan and Brazil. Emphasizing that cooperation between the two countries had entered a new stage, President Aliyev noted the importance of expanding political ties and strengthening the economic cooperation. The President expressed hope that Azerbaijan and Brazil would support each other in international organizations and wished the Ambassador every success in his work.
Sergio De Souza Fontes Arruda noted the importance of mutual visits for the expansion of bilateral relations. The Ambassador said his country was interested in developing cooperation with Azerbaijan and stressed the importance of Azerbaijan's participation in several international events to be held in Brazil. The diplomat assured the President that during the period of his diplomatic activity in the country he would make every effort to enhance bilateral relations between Brazil and Azerbaijan.
Guided by Clause 5 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, I hereby order:
To appoint Sahil Rafig oglu Babayev as Minister of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
