President Ilham Aliyev has received the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that a number of issues relating to the expansion of bilateral relations had been discussed in the meetings in Baku. Pointing to good relations among all the institutions of the two countries, the Russian Foreign Minister expressed his satisfaction that this cooperation has risen to the level of strategic partnership.
Sergey Lavrov said his country was interested in expanding the relations with Azerbaijan further.
President Ilham Aliyev said bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia were based on the principles of good neighborliness and were of strategic nature. Expressing his satisfaction with the good relations between the two countries at all levels, the President noted the importance of cooperation in economic, political and humanitarian spheres. President Aliyev said the political cooperation between the two countries had strengthened further in the past year, resulting in broader trade and extensive relations between Azerbaijan and different parts of Russia. The President expressed his hope that the visit by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Azerbaijan would further enhance these relations.
Guided by Clause 5 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, I hereby order:
To appoint Sahil Rafig oglu Babayev as Minister of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
