Employees of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Heydar Aliyev Center took part in a blood donation campaign on 11 April following a reduction of blood supply for children suffering from thalassemia, haemophilia and leukaemia during the special quarantine regime in the country due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva shared a post on her Facebook page in this regard.
The post says: “Compassion, mercy, humanism, generosity, doing good deeds, being with those in need have always been and still are our most important values. At a time when a special quarantine regime is being applied in our country in connection with the coronavirus pandemic that has gripped the whole world, the ability of our people to show solidarity, humanity, attention and care is a source of pride for each of us. I would like to express my gratitude to the teams of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Heydar Aliyev Center, who have voluntarily participated in a blood donation campaign organized by the Blood Bank of the National Haematology and Transfusiology Center to support people suffering from inherited blood diseases, especially thalassemia. With this noble deed of yours, you have saved a human life. This deserves the highest praise! I am sure that your initiative will be supported by all citizens of our country who are not indifferent to this issue and are ready to do good! Thank you very much!"
