“Vagif Mustafazade ... This name evokes the warmest feelings in each of us. His life was short, but full of meaning. He has replenished the world’s treasury of musical masterpieces with inimitable samples of jazz-mugham created on the basis of a successful synthesis of deeply rooted Azerbaijani mugham and jazz music. His beautiful melodies and rhythms that excite people’s hearts have further enriched our national musical heritage and widely popularized it all over the world. The name and works of Vagif Mustafazade, whose 80th birthday is being celebrated these days, live and will live on forever,” First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva posted on her Instagram page.
The post says: “In memory of the outstanding representative of the musical culture of Azerbaijan, Vagif Mustafazade, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation published a musical album about the life and works of the composer in 2012, and the opening of Children's Art School No 2 named after Vagif Mustafazade will take place after a major reconstruction soon.”
