President Ilham Aliyev attended the groundbreaking ceremony of “Balakan-1” small hydroelectric power station.

“Balakan-1” hydroelectric station will produce 10 million kilowatt/hour energy annually. This constitutes 25 percent of the overall electricity consumption of the region. In the hydroelectric power station, which will be constructed by local “AZENKO” company, three hydro turbines, each with 0.5-megawatt power, and a hydro generator, as well as 10-kilovolt substation will be built, and electricity lines will be installed.

It was mentioned that the construction of the station is planned to be completed by the second half of 2011.

President Ilham Aliyev laid the foundation of the hydroelectric power station.
