President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif.
The head of state noted that Azerbaijan and Iran enjoy friendly and good neighborly relations, saying he is satisfied with the current level of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
President Ilham Aliyev pointed out the ample opportunities for cooperation between the two countries within the North-South, South-West transport corridors. The head of state underlined the role of Joint Intergovernmental Commission in developing economic and trade relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, emphasizing that the Commission will continue its activity in the same composition.
Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Javad Zarif extended President Hassan Rouhani’s sincere greetings and best wishes to President Ilham Aliyev.
He noted that President Hassan Rouhani will pay a visit to Azerbaijan in the coming days to attend the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement to be held in the country, adding that his meeting with the head of state as part of the visit will contribute to further development of bilateral relations between the two countries.
FM Zarif expressed his confidence that the Baku Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement would be excellently organized by Azerbaijan, noting that the country will successfully chair the organization in 2019-2022.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked for Hassan Rouhani`s greetings and asked Mohammad Javad Zarif to extend his greetings to the Iranian President. The head of state said that he is looking forward to his meeting with President Hassan Rouhani on the sidelines of the Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement to be held in Baku.
