Ilham Aliyev inspected the reconstruction works in the Fountain Square

One of the best leisure spots in Baku – the Fountain Square, opened up following the construction and renovation works. President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva inspected the reconstruction works carried out in the area.

It was mentioned that, it was the first time since the first building of the Fountain Squares that the reconstruction and renovation works of such scope were carried out. During the high-quality reconstruction works, special attention was given to the artistic design of this area, which is closely linked to the history of Baku. The general structure was preserved, while a new planning was applied. A new attractive fountain was built. The architectural composition just behind it draws attention with its embrace of Baku elements because of both its design and coloring.

President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva checked out the newly built “Fountain” restaurant-café. The President was informed that all the conditions are set for entertainment of residents of the capital and guests. It was accentuated that several fountain complexes of different designs were built in the square.

The President was also informed about the reconstruction works carried out in the surrounding buildings. He was told that all of these buildings belong to historical architecture and the reconstruction works that were carried out in these buildings conform to the overall architectural ensemble of the area. All of the balconies in these buildings were renovated, and modern lighting systems were installed over the façades.

President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva also viewed the post-reconstruction condition of what Baku residents call the “Book Passage”. Reconstruction works were carried out in the buildings with architectural monuments and passages with arches along the streets. Pictures reflecting the Baku architecture have been painted on the ceilings of the passages with arches.

The President and the First Lady also checked out the reconstruction works in the “Khagani” garden. It was mentioned that special attention was given to the increase of greenery in the garden, and the former color system of the park was preserved. The fountain of special shape was kept in its former design in the garden that embraces various ornamental elements in its new model.

President Ilham Aliyev and Mehriban Aliyeva also viewed the new park and its new fountain built in the Nizami Street.

The President was shown the pre-reconstruction pictures of the area. He was told that the opening of a new park in the area, during the reconstruction and renovation works, served the meaningful entertainment of the Baku residents.
