President Ilham Aliyev has accepted the credentials of a newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Azerbaijan, Peter Bateman.
Ambassador Peter Bateman reviewed the guard of honor.
Peter Bateman presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.
Then President Ilham Aliyev had a conversation with the Ambassador.
The President said the relations between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland are rapidly developing in political, economic and cultural spheres. Touching upon the activities of British companies in Azerbaijan in the energy, business and cultural spheres, President Ilham Aliyev said the relations between the two countries had good traditions and expressed confidence that they would continue to develop in the future. President Aliyev wished Ambassador Bateman every success in his activities.
Ambassador Peter Bateman passed the best wishes on behalf of the Queen of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Her Majesty Elizabeth II, on to the Azerbaijani President, his family and the people of Azerbaijan. He said he was pleased to come to Azerbaijan as Ambassador. Peter Bateman said he would spare no effort to further expand relations between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
President Ilham Aliyev recalled with satisfaction his meeting with the Queen of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Her Majesty Elizabeth II, several years ago.
The head of state thanked the Ambassador for the wishes on behalf of the Queen of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Her Majesty Elizabeth II, and asked the diplomat to communicate his best wishes to Her Majesty.
Guided by Clause 5 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, I hereby order:
To appoint Sahil Rafig oglu Babayev as Minister of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
