The head of state visited a statue of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and laid flowers at it.
Minister of Defense Industry Yavar Jamalov informed the President of Azerbaijan that special attention has been paid to the establishment of various manufacturing enterprises in Khachmaz in recent years. The reconstructed condenser plant is an important part of such activities. The Khachmaz condenser plant used to be subordinated to the Severo-Zadonsk military works in the Russian town of Tula in 1981. It first operated as a small workshop, but a plant was built here in 1983 and the enterprise became fully operational in 1987.
It was indicated that various condensers manufactured at the Khachmaz condenser plant used to be exported to all republics of the USSR. In 1992, the plant was handed over to the Elektrolit Production Unit, while in 1993 it became part of the State Committee for Special Machine-building and Conversion. In addition to producing condensers, the plant manufactures consumer goods and provides paid services to the population.
Then the head of state watched a film about the previous state of the plant.
President Ilham Aliyev also examined the Heydar Aliyev museum established at the enterprise. There are photos documenting the great leader’s contribution to army building and the work the Azerbaijani President has been doing in continuation of this policy to develop the defense industry.
The President reviewed an exhibition of the merchandise manufactured at the plant.
It was indicated during familiarization with the enterprise that it covers a total area of 24,000 square meters. Major overhaul and reconstruction have been carried out on the manufacturing area of 3,690 square meters. Special facilities and equipment meeting the latest technological requirements have been installed at the plant after building and reconstruction operations. This equipment is used in the production of different-purpose merchandise – compass prismatic binoculars with high magnifying power, K-1 collimators for cannons, MTON-44M optic sights for aiming 60, 82 and 120 millimeter mortars.
It was noted that PK-A collimator sights are intended for aiming submachine and machine guns. The sights enable high-precision shooting of targets from 5.45 and 7.62 millimeter Kalashnikov assault rifles and light machine guns at a distance of 300 meters. The optic sniper sights of various magnifying power are intended for aiming normal and large-caliber sniper rifles.
The President was informed that in addition to the mechanical and optical workshops, the plant has a section manufacturing industrial products. These mainly include household items. It was mentioned that 76 new jobs had been created at the enterprise. This is a testament to the fact that the government is paying continuous attention to the defense industry. As was the case in previous years, the implementation of the State Defense Industry Program has continued in 2001 and production of a number of new products has started.
It was noted that the Ministry of Defense Industry has been tasked with increasing production by 15 per cent, manufacturing new defense products, creating new jobs and raising the average wage in 2011. President Ilham Aliyev wished the plant staff further success and gave relevant recommendations and instructions.
