President Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of 11-year music school No 8 named after Gara Garayev in Baku.
The school staff warmly welcomed the head of state.
President Ilham Aliyev cut a ribbon symbolizing the opening of the music school.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev informed the head of state that major overhaul at the music school was started in May last year.
President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the museum set up on the first floor of the school. The stands displayed there have pictures of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP Mehriban Aliyeva, photographs documenting their contribution to the development of our national music, as well as pictures of outstanding composer Gara Garayev and his creative achievements. In the lobby of the school there is a bas-relief of the great composer. Also in the lobby there is a panel with pictures of young and talented musicians who have received special scholarships from the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as photos of Gara Garayev’s students.
The President reviewed the medical room, the cafeteria, classrooms and a small room intended for exams.
While examining the theory classroom set up on the second floor, the head of state was informed that the interactive board installed at a music school for the first time will enable the school to conduct lessons at a high level, write music and study the rules for using instruments. It was noted that the music school has plans to open a saz class.
It was indicated that there are changing rooms, a wardrobe, a dressing room and classrooms on the third floor.
While on the fourth floor, the head of state reviewed a photo stand reflecting the previous and present appearance of the building.
President Ilham Aliyev then reviewed a concert hall on the same floor and listened to a performance by students of the school. It was noted that there are a recording studio and a class of percussion instruments on the fourth floor.
The head of state gave a high assessment to the work done.
