President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of Long-Livers museum in Lerik.

The President cut the ribbon symbolizing the official opening and toured the facility.

The President was informed that it was not a coincidence that the museum had been established in Lerik. The region is recognized across the world as a land of long-livers. Over 500 long-livers lived in mountainous Lerik region at the time. Currently, more than 20 people over 100 years of age reside in Lerik.

The museum - one of a kind - features a building with modern architectural elements. More than two thousands exhibits, interesting information, and photos about more than 50 Lerik people over the age of 100 are on display at two different halls of the museum. French photographer Frederic Lashop, who is the author of approximately 40 photos in the museum, demonstrated these photos at the “Visit to the land of long-livers” exhibition he organized in Paris. There are special sections dedicated to Shirali Muslumov, Mahmud Eyvazov and Majid Agayev, who received the title of the most long living people on Earth in the museum. The museum will attract more tourists to Lerik, which has a great tourism potential.
